Western Addiction is a punk band from San Francisco and is mostly classified as hardcore punk . The band consists of employees of the punk rock label Fat Wreck Chords and is also under contract there. The band's name is derived from Western Addition, a district of San Francisco.

history

The band was founded in 1988 by founding members Jason Hall, Chad Williams and Chicken Annicharico. All three were working on Fat Wreck Chords at the time . In this composition they released their first 7 "EP, Remember to Disember, in 2003. In 2004, Ken Yamazaki, who had previously played with Enemy You, joined the band as lead guitarist. Now the four of them released a split EP in 2014 with the Florida hardcore band New Mexican Disaster Squad In November 2005 the band released their first LP, Cognicide , and toured the US West Coast with Propagandhi , Japan with NOFX and the US East Coast with New Mexican Disaster Squad.

After that, the band was quiet for a long time, until they got active again with new songs in 2013, but without Chicken Annicharico. In August 2013 they recorded a 7 "EP with three new songs with Pines . Tony Teixeira joined the band as guitarist in 2014. Further releases followed in 2015, on the one hand another 7 with I'm Not the Man That I Thought I'd Be "EP as well as the Euro Tour EP, available for the first time on the spring tour 2015 in Europe, with all songs from the two previously released 7" EPs. On March 10, 2017, over ten years after their first album, the band's second full-fledged album , Tremulous , finally took place Former band member Chicken Annicharico, who played bass on the studio recordings, also worked on this release - the album was produced by Lagwagon singer Joey Cape. On tour, Mitch Paglia plays bass for it, who previously played with the band Nothington .
