Western Division (WHA)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Western Division was a division in the North American professional ice hockey league WHA .

Initially there was only the Eastern Division in addition to the Western Division. For the third season the number of teams was increased and the Canadian Division was added. After two years, it was reduced to two divisions for one year.

The division's name was derived from the geographical location of the teams that played in it, i.e. This means that the teams that were based in western North America played in the Western Division.
