Western Illinois University
The Western Illinois University (WIU) is a state university in Macomb in US state of Illinois . The college was founded in 1899 as the Western Illinois State Teachers College . There are currently 13,600 students enrolled. In addition to the main campus in Macomb, there is a secondary location in the Quad Cities ( Moline ).
Sports
The WIU sports teams are the Leathernecks . The sports team's mascot is a bulldog. The university is a member of the Summit League and the football team takes part in the Gateway Football Conference .
