Expansion of the Summit League

The Summit League is a nine-university league for various sports that play in NCAA Division I. Until June 1, 2007 it was still known as the Mid-Continent Conference .

The league was founded in 1982. The majority of its members are in the American Midwest . Its headquarters are in Sioux Falls , South Dakota . The Southern Utah University has left the The Summit League in 2012 and is the Big Sky Conference changed. The University of Denver joined the League as a new member .

  • Kansas City was a member of the Summit League from 1994 to 2013 when its sports program was known as the UMKC Kangaroos. UMKC changed its sporting identity from UMKC Kangaroos to Kansas City Roos on July 1st, 2019 .
  • Oral Roberts was a member of the Summit League from 1997 to 2012.
