The Westfalia Company GmbH & Co KG is a major mail order specialist for tools, electronics, home and garden, car accessories, farming and recreation.
history
In 1923 the Westfalia Werkzeugcompany was founded by the Aschermann family in Schwerte to meet the tool requirements in the centers of industrialization. Five years later, Messrs. Weil and Herlinghaus took over the company with the aim of selling agricultural products to travelers from farm to farm, from which the mail-order business developed a little later. The concept of shipping tools and goods by post proved to be extremely successful. The first catalog with 984 quality tools was published in 1933. Almost every craft could be found in this catalog with special tools. Household goods for everyday use were also included in the program.
During the war the mail order business came to a complete standstill. In return, Westfalia tools were more in demand than ever during the reconstruction phase. The extensive leisure market was rediscovered, which continues to complement the tool and household product ranges to this day: technology, health, fitness, textiles and clothing, garden, rechargeable batteries and batteries, hobbies, cars and camping.

The Westfalia dispatch center is based in Hagen in Westphalia . In addition to the head office, there is a separate call center and the dispatch conveyor line. An average of 10,000–15,000 deliveries are sent from here every day. Today the company cooperates closely with DHL and DPD for the mail order business . Each delivery is accompanied by a return slip on which the buyer can state why an item is being returned (for example: damage, disapproval, price / performance ratio is not convincing). In 2010, the company had sales of 90.9 million euros online via its website, making it one of the 20 largest generalists in Germany.
