Weto is a rock group from Fürstenfeldbruck .

Band history

Weto was founded in 1993 from two school bands that broke up. Until 1996 the band played at various local small events. In 1996, Daniel Stevens separated from the band, which then continued with only one guitarist. Furthermore, the live album "Tatort Bühne" was recorded in 1996, which was published the following year.

In the summer of 1998 the Weto musicians Thomas Lindner and Martin Duckstein founded the folk rock band Schandmaul together with a few others . The time required for the new band was so great that Weto was practically left behind. The EP "Schorben Im Kopf" was released in 1999, but the band was about to break up at the turn of the year 1999/2000 and it was decided to put them on hold for a while. In the following three years the band met only once a year for the obligatory "annual concert" in the Groebenzeller Hexe. After that, Weto actually no longer existed.

In 2005 Weto was reactivated, according to the band's website on a boozy night on the Schandmaul tour bus. Martin Duckstein (guitar) and Thomas Lindner (vocals) were the only ones left of the original composition, so Heiner Jaspers from Regicide as well as Matthias Richter and Stefan Brunner (both members of Schandmaul) were brought on board and took it new album "Das 2weit Ich", which was released on November 24, 2006. The first appearances of the "new" Weto were at the Funkenflug Festival in Munich, the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig and a Regicide concert in Oldenburg. In November 2006, four days after the album was released, the “reactivated” band started their first tour.

In the following years the band members were busy with their main projects. There was only a small tour in spring 2007 and a few appearances at smaller festivals in summer 2008. On August 26, 2011 another album called "Schattenspieler" was released, which even entered the album charts at number 84 for the first time. The band performed at the Wacken Open Air Festival in 2012 and also went on a club tour through Germany for nine concerts in October 2012. Finally, in October 2013, the band performed at the “Rock im Herbst” festival.

Weto has been on a break since then. In May 2017, the band Schandmaul announced in a live stream that no new activities are currently planned for Weto.
