Betting village house

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wettendorfshäuschen is a baroque building named after Bernhard Heinrich Wettendorf on a private property in Trier . It is located in the Pallien district , on Reverchonweg.

The former owner is honored in Theodor von Haupt's work in Trier's past and present : The owner of the Balduinshäuschen, who died in 1822, with its surroundings [...] with the so-called Wettendorfshäuschen [...], apart from the agricultural use and improvement of this interesting property, Its beautification through functional parts was also important and thereby contributed honestly to the enjoyment of nature for its fellow citizens. Hopefully his successor will continue to work in the same spirit. Even Friedrich von Restorff boasts a romantic location.

Indeed, after the property was auctioned, the Wettendorfshäuschen was soon made available to the public: from 1824 the landlord Johann Peter Schneider ran a restaurant in the building. In 1854 the property was sold; the betting village house was evidently leased at the time. A rival company was opened with the neighboring Bellevue , but it could not last too long. In 1871 the land and the building passed into the hands of the lawyer Hermann Brefeld, who at least only used Villa Bellevue for private purposes. It does not appear to be known whether there was still a restaurant in the Wettendorfshäuschen at that time. After changing fates, the ruins of the Villa Bellevue with the Wettendorfshäuschen were initially listed as a historical monument; the protection of the ruins was lifted in 2009.
