Wettersbach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wettersbach was from January 1, 1972 to December 31, 1974 an independent short-lived municipality in Baden-Württemberg . It was created through the merger of the places Grünwettersbach and Palmbach .

history

After the Thirty Years War , large parts of the area around Grünwettersbach were devastated and unpopulated. As a result, Waldensian refugees were settled in the district of Grünwettersbach and the village of Palmbach was founded. In order to prevent incorporation into Karlsruhe , Grünwettersbach and Palmbach merged on January 1, 1972 to form the Wettersbach municipality, named after the Wettersbach river that runs through both villages. Three years later, Wettersbach was incorporated into Karlsruhe after all. After the incorporation into the city of Karlsruhe on January 1, 1975, both districts got their original names back.

However, the districts remained an administrative unit. Both parts of the city now have a joint local administration in Wettersbach, a joint local council and the joint primary school Heinz-Barth-Schule (formerly Carl-Benz-Schule ). The Wettersbach indoor swimming pool existed until 2009 with four 25-meter lanes, which was converted into the ASV Grünwettersbach's table tennis hall in 2014.

The name Wettersbach is also reflected in club life. The following associations and organizations exist:
