Location of Wetzen in Lower Saxony

Wetzen is a district of the municipality of Oldendorf (Luhe) in Lower Saxony and is located south of Lüneburg .

history

Due to the fact that Wetzen neither had a court nor a church (Wetzen had belonged to the parish of Raven since at least 1217 ), there are hardly any records of the political development up to the mayors and local councils . The village of Wetzen appears for the first time around the year 820 (taken from the notes of Dr. Reineke). It is more likely that Wetzen was only founded in 1192.

On March 1, 1974, Wetzen was incorporated into the Oldendorf (Luhe) community.
