The Wetzlar Chick Choir was a children's choir under the direction of Margret Birkenfeld . In 1996 the children's choir was merged with the Wetzlar children's choir to form the Wetzlar chick and children's choir in preparation for Margret Birkenfeld's departure from the choir management or with the handover to her successor Konny Cramer . In 1997 this choir community was finally renamed Sunshine Kids .
history
The Wetzlar Chick Choir emerged in the mid-1960s from Margret Birkenfeld's work with the Wetzlar Children's Choir . After this had grown to an incompatible group under her leadership by different ages, she formed the particularly young and barely readable singers under nine years of age to form the Wetzlar Chick Choir . Initially, however, only understood as a branch of the Wetzlar Children's Choir without its own name, the young choir community was in its first years with various names such as "our little ones", "the kindergarten" or "the Spatzenvolk" usually only delimited as an independent ensemble in the current listening program. The term “Wezlar Infant Choir” appeared for a short time. The youngest singers in the chick choir were five years old.
In the following decades until the 1990s, the Wetzlar Chick Choir recorded numerous children's productions, which are now among the Christian children's classics. In addition to the children's choir, he has been responsible for the children's program We Sing Together for years on Evangeliums-Rundfunk .
In 1997 the then 70-year-old Margret Birkenfeld handed over the leadership of her Wetzlar Children's and Chick Choir, which was reunited as a closed choir community in 1996, to the music teacher Konny Cramer . Under her leadership, the choir changed its name to Sunshine Kids and helped shape Christian children's music for many years.
