Wiay ( Scottish Gaelic : Bhuia or Fùidheigh , from Old Norwegian , German: "House Island") is an island in the southwest of the Inner Hebrides in Scotland . It is located about 1.4 kilometers west of Skye at the height of the village Ullinish and east of the island of Oronsay in Loch Bracadale . Wiay is 1.49 km² and is the largest island in the bay. The highest point is 60 meters.
The coast of Wiay consists mainly of steep rocks, in the south there are overhanging cliffs . You can only go ashore in Camas na Cille Bay . Wiay was settled until the middle of the 19th century. Today three crumbling houses can still be seen in Camas na Cille , one of which was built in the traditional way of black houses .
There are two large herring gull colonies ( Larus argentatus ) on the island .
