Widenmayerstraße 3
The corner building at Widenmayerstraße 3 is a tenement building in Munich . It was around the turn of the 19th / 20th century. It was built in the 16th century and is registered as a monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.

The building is located on the corner of Widenmayerstrasse and Gewürzmühlstrasse on Isarkai in the Lehel district of Munich . It is part of the listed ensemble Widenmayerstraße and completes the building block formed with the neighboring houses No. 1 and No. 2 to the north.
history
Construction of the building began in 1898. For this purpose, some previous buildings, some of which were even on the site of the planned road widening, had to be demolished. For the construction of the wing on Gewürzmühlstrasse, part of the Hofhammerschmiedbach was vaulted.
On November 27, 1944, one of the air raids on Munich during World War II destroyed the structure on the corner pavilion. A fundamental renovation of the facade took place in 1988/89. In 2005, the corner pavilion was again given a tent roof with a copper lantern , as it was originally .
In 2007, the building received the Facade Prize of the City of Munich .
description
At the street corner there is a six-storey round corner pavilion, from which two five-storey wings extend along the adjacent streets. Access is from the corner through the pavilion. The wing on Widenmayerstraße forms a structural unit with the neighboring apartment building Widenmayerstraße 2.
The ground floor and first floor are kept in a rustic style over an approximately 2 meter high base made of smooth stones .
Several companies have their headquarters in the building, including the von der Heydt bank .
