I beg your pardon?

I beg your pardon? was an Austrian infotainment magazine of the television broadcaster ORF 1 , which was first broadcast on April 10, 2007 as part of an ORF program reform. The broadcast was discontinued on March 10, 2009 by ORF.

The broadcast

The magazine program dealt with topics that relate to everyday life - the aim was to specifically address a young target group. The program attached great importance to an unconventional treatment of the topics that was perceived as modern. Often the personal experiences and feelings of the moderators and program designers played a role in the contributions.

The broadcast was received critically by the media commentators who accompanied the ORF program reform from the start. The press (April 11th) found the magazine "embarrassing", Der Standard (April 11th) commented on the program with "Joke, please!", The Kronen Zeitung (April 11th) asked: "What's the point?" Falter (April 14th) attested "teething problems but development potential".

The first show saw an average of 197,000 viewers, over the course of the weeks the numbers have leveled off at an average of just under 70,000.

development

The program has changed slightly over the course of time. The show was special at the beginning because of its two external presenters with a migration background. With the actor Faris Endris Rahoma and the rapper Patrick Léon Bongola, migrants played in front of the camera for the first time on ORF in an evening program (and thus outside of the minority programs required by programming) a role. This was received favorably by media criticism.

Other external moderators for the show were:

Until November 2007, the show was alternately moderated by the two studio presenters, Andi Knoll and Eva Pölzl . At the beginning of 2008, the information magazine, which had been broadcast from Monday to Friday from 5:50 p.m. to 6:10 p.m. from April 10th, was converted to a weekly society magazine. Most recently, the program was broadcast on Tuesday at 11.35 p.m. on ORF 1 and repeated on Wednesday after ZiB24. After the changeover to the society magazine, the show was moderated exclusively by Eva Pölzl.

Offshoot

In the period from December 2007 to March 2008, a spin-off for the show called Rat mal, Wer zum Essen was produced.
