Wiedergeltinger Mühle is part of the municipality of Wiedergeltingen in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria .

location

Sacred Heart Chapel at the entrance to the mill, donated and built by Josef Kienle

The Wiedergeltinger Mühle is located on a tributary of the Wertach , the Mühlbach, about one kilometer west of Wiedergeltingen . In addition to the mill that gives it its name, there are several factories and warehouses there. At the Wiedergeltinger Mühle the Angergraben coming from the east flows into the Mühlbach, which drains the western municipality of Wiedergeltingen.

There is a heliport in the immediate vicinity to the north.

Originally, the settlement was on the old Reichsstrasse, which, coming from Landsberg, led through Wiedergeltingen and continued via Mindelheim to Memmingen. In the 1920s, the course of the route, now known as the MN 10 district road, was changed and passed the Wiedergeltinger mill.

history

The mill as a central part of the municipality is first mentioned on January 18, 1279, when the Weingarten Monastery waived all rights to the mill, weir and Mühlbach opposite the Steingaden Monastery . There is evidence of a grinding mill and sawmill as early as the 17th century ; in the 20th century, the mill was abandoned and the facility was converted into a timber trade. In addition, other businesses, such as a recycling business, settled on the site.
