Hartmut Kliemt

Hartmut Kliemt (born November 26, 1949 in Mönchen-Gladbach ) is a German philosopher , economist and university professor.

Live and act

After graduating from high school in 1968, Kliemt studied philosophy , sociology and mathematics at the universities of Regensburg and Göttingen . After the intermediate philosophical examination in Göttingen in 1969, he moved to the University of Frankfurt am Main , where he continued his studies, but gave up mathematics in favor of studying economics . He graduated from the latter in 1974 with a degree in business administration . Kliemt then took up a position as a research assistant at an economics chair at the University of Dortmund , and in 1976 he switched to a position at a chair for legal and social philosophy at the University of Mainz . In Frankfurt, he was in 1977 with the right philosophical work "about the justifiability state of philosophical studies criteria of legitimacy" Dr. phil. PhD. In 1983 Kliemt completed his habilitation in Frankfurt with the text “Moralische Institutions”, which was later also translated into Spanish, for philosophy.

As a result, Kliemt represented chairs at the universities of Munich and Frankfurt am Main. In 1988 he was appointed to the full professorship for practical philosophy at the University of Duisburg-Essen . In 2006 he switched to the chair for philosophy and economics at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management . He held this chair until 2016 and was in charge of the Management, Philosophy and Economics course. Since 2015 he has been working as emeritus again at the University of Duisburg-Essen, since 2017 he has been visiting professor for behavioral economics at the University of Gießen .

Kliemt largely aligns his research and teaching to the English model of the philosopher Economist , so that his research focuses in particular on the intersection between political philosophy and economics. He focuses primarily on the topics of health ethics and economics, methodology of the practical sciences medicine, business administration and law and constitutional political economics .
