Goodbye polka

The reunion polka is a polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 142). The work was first performed on September 18, 1853 in Ungers Casino in Vienna.

Remarks

The polka was composed on the occasion of Johann Strauss' return from a longer stay at a spa and premiered on September 18, 1853 at a festival in Ungers Casino together with the Neuhauser polka . With the work, the composer expressed his joy at seeing his audience again after a serious illness. By the way, the joy was mutual. The audience was also happy to see the popular Kapellmeister return home.
