Viennese arch

The Vienna arch is a new type of transition arch that is used in track construction .

In contrast to other forms such as clothoids , naked arches , sinusoids etc., the Viennese arch takes the center of gravity of a rail vehicle into account. In this way, the load on the vehicles and the route is minimized.

The term “Wiener Bogen” has been a registered trademark since 2002 , the process is patent-protected for Wiener Linien and Austrian Federal Railways .

The inventor Herbert L. Hasslinger received the State Prize Consulting of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor in 2004 for the project "Modern geometry of the track layout for railways - from the idea to the realization, especially as a Viennese arch" .

The Wiener Bogen was used, among other things, in the expansion of the Pannoniabahn Wulkaprodersdorf – Neusiedl / See until 2009 .
