The Wiener Kleine Post was a city postal company in Vienna .

The need for a city post company arose because the “big mail” only delivered from place to place, but not within cities. In 1772, Josef Haardi, Johann Baptist Schoutten von Bergestraeten and Carl Chevalier de Briennen founded the postal company. Since the mail carriers made themselves noticeable by clattering their hands, they soon got the nickname “Wiener Klapperlpost”. In 1785 the private postal company was taken over by the kuk Hofpostverwaltung and in 1830 the Wiener Stadtpost emerged from it.
