Wiener Opernarchiv (formerly RISM-Austria ) is an Austrian research promotion association in the fields of Austrian music history with a focus on the history of the Vienna Opera.

history

The non-profit and non-commercial association was founded in 2003, constituted in 2004 and was renamed "Wiener Opernarchiv" at the end of 2012. It promotes research in the field of Austrian music history with a focus on the history of the Vienna Opera . The research results are published in the "Writings from the Vienna Opera Archives", formerly "Publications of rism-Austria".

Research activities in 2014/15 focus on the works of Giuseppe Verdi , Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss in Vienna as well as the history of the Wiener Ringtheater (Komische Oper) and the Vienna State Opera from 1938 to 1945.

Board

President is Clemens Jabloner , Vice Presidents Clemens Höslinger and Heinrich Tettinek. Research director is Michael Jahn .

Opera as an international art form in Vienna

The history of the opera in Vienna is processed, the leading personalities and the most important artists are treated as well as the opera repertoire, decoration and ballet. Contemporary reviews are also included.
