Clemens Höslinger (pseudonym: Christian Herbst ; born September 15, 1933 in Vienna ) is an Austrian historian , music journalist and librarian .

Life

Höslinger, younger brother of the Augustinian canon Norbert Höslinger , first graduated from the Vienna Music Academy . He then worked as a librarian at the Austrian State Archives from 1959 to 1993 .

Höslinger was best known as a music critic in magazines and daily newspapers in the German-speaking area. He has also presented historical sound recordings on numerous radio stations. His research and publication areas primarily concern the history of music and theater in Vienna.

Höslinger is Vice President of the Vienna Opera Archive Association , formerly RISM-Austria .
