The Viennese party school on Praterstrasse is the oldest and most important educational institution of the Viennese SPÖ . It was founded in 1924.

history

The Viennese school was founded in 1924, but a previous school (party school in Bodenbach 1910–1914) existed before the First World War . The Vienna School existed until 1934. In the 1920s and 1930s, it trained 60 to 100 graduates per year. It was part of an educational system that ranged from the district party schools to the Viennese party school to the upper level of the Viennese workers' college. From 1927 to 1934, the school was headed by Franz Rauscher (1900–1988), who later became State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Asset Protection and Economic Planning .

From 1923 to 1932 the subjects and teachers included: Marx's economic teachings (initially Karl Renner , later Federal President , then Benedikt Kautsky ); Social and economic stratification of the population of German Austria ( Adolf Schärf , later Federal President); Economic crisis symptoms; Economic problems of the present ( Helene Bauer , Kautsky); Union problems ( Viktor Stein ); Constitution of the Republic ( Max Adler ).

In 1947 it was reopened by Karl Czernetz . Over the past 69 years, over 1,000 party officials have successfully completed this training course.
