history

The refuge was built by the local groups Floridsdorf and Hallstatt of the gymnastics club “Die Naturfreunde” from 1923 on the Wiesberghöhe and was officially opened on July 10, 1927. From 1948 to 1950 a material ropeway was built and two years later the Wiesberghaus was expanded with an extension. Further additions were made from 1970 to 1972 and from 1980 to 1984. At the end of the 1970s, the newly founded Naturfreunde local group Oftering took over the management of the shelter and since January 1, 2004 the Naturfreunde local group Lenzing has held it.
