A wooden beam ceiling and the representative stucco ceiling in the hallway have been preserved from this time . At the end of the 19th century the house was used as the Royal Saxon Forestry Office . At this time, the window and door frames made of red porphyry that can still be seen today were added. During the GDR era, the building contained apartments, a delicatessen shop and the forerunner of today's museum.

From 2012 to 2014 the house was renovated and a modern part of the building was added. The museum's permanent exhibition has been completely redesigned. The building was named Wiesenthaler K3 and opened on September 12, 2014.
