Wiesner Alp

The Wiesner Alp is an alp above Davos Wiesen in the Swiss canton of Graubünden . It is located at 1940  m above sea level. M. and is one of the most important alpine settlements in Graubünden. On the alp there are centuries-old huts in the Walser style with stables and hay sections, which are built in many variations according to a uniform pattern. The stables were used to store hay and as a base for tilling the lands in the alpine area.

The Wiesner Alp is a popular excursion destination for locals and guests from the tourist resorts of Davos, Lenzerheide and visitors to Parc Ela . It can be reached on foot in just over an hour from Davos Wiesen . The annual highlight in village life in Davos Wiesen is the Wiesner Alpfest , which traditionally takes place on the penultimate Sunday in July. In addition to popular musical performances, there is a church service and playful competitions.

Major fire in 2007

In November 2007, 14 of the more than 40 huts burned down. The efforts of the Davos government and various authorities in Graubünden to rebuild the alp in a coordinated overall concept led to success in July 2010 after many years of tough negotiations and the building permits were issued. Isolated objections were rejected as not factually justified.
