Carl Anton Merz

Carl Anton Merz (* July 20, 1831 in Greiz ; † June 10, 1898 in Langenhennersdorf ) was a businessman and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Merz was a councilor and industrialist in the textile industry in Greiz . Together with others like JD Löffler, Eduard Brösel etc. he is one of the first factory owners in Greiz to set up mechanical looms. He was also the second president of the Greizer Chamber of Commerce from 1878 and co-founder of the Greizer club brewery and promoted the connection of the city to the railroad.

Between 1878 and 1881 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the German Conservative Party and the constituency of the Principality of Reuss older line .
