content

Usually mothers from two strongly contrasting life plans or milieus are swapped. The women try to do their roles well, but as a rule they do not have much success. Both families try to cope with the swap mother. Each woman leaves her home and explains the role and responsibilities that the barter mother should assume in the family. In the first week of the exchange, the women try to maintain the demands. In the following week, the rules with the families with whom they cannot get along are lifted. At the end of the exchange of wives, the women meet their husbands for the first time and discuss the past two weeks. Insults and violent attacks often develop from the discussions.

Parodies

In 2007 Richard Thomas's Kombat Opera Presents series included a musical parody of the American version of Wife Swap entitled Spouse Change .
