The Wigg Islands are a group of six small islands off the Mawson coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . In Holme Bay they are 10 km northwest of the Flat Islands .
Norwegian cartographers mapped them using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 and named them Mesteinene ( Norwegian for middle stones ). The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after David R. Wigg, a doctor on Mawson Station in 1962.
