Viktor Sokolov

Viktor Nikolajewitsch Sokolow ( Russian Виктор Николаевич Соколов ) (born April 4, 1963 ) is a Russian vice admiral . From 2010 to 2012 he commanded the Primorsk Flotilla of the Pacific Fleet and from 2012 to 2013 the Kola Flotilla of the Northern Fleet .

Life

Sokolov studied from 1980 to 1985 at the Frunze Naval College in Leningrad . After successful completion, he was assigned to the Primorsk Flotilla of Mixed Forces of the Pacific Fleet and served until August 1987 on the patrol boat SKR-61 as a combat section commander for mine / torpedo armament (GA-3). He was then used until October 1989 as the commander of combat sectors two and three on the Jakor anti-mine vehicle of the Primorsk Flotilla and until December 1990 as the commander of the BT-51 anti-mine vehicle . After serving as first officer on the Jakor anti-mine vehicle , he served as the commander of the Zaryad anti-mine vehicle from September 1992 to September 1993 . The following year he was chief of staff of the 187th anti-mine vehicle division and from 1994 to 1995 commander of the 81st anti-mine vehicle division of the 47th coastal defense ship brigade of the Primorsk Flotilla. After graduating from the Naval Warfare Academy NG Kuznetsov in 1998, he served as a department head in the operational command of the Pacific Fleet until June 2000 and then served as the commander of the 165th ship brigade of the Primorsk Flotilla in Vladivostok . After attending the Military Academy of the General Staff from September 2004 to July 2006, worked until August 2010 as the deputy commander of the Primorsk Flotilla. From August 2010 to September 2012, Sokolov commanded the Primorsk flotilla in Fokino and was immediately commander of the Kola flotilla of mixed forces of the northern fleet in Polyarny until August 2013 . Since August 2013 he has been the deputy commander of the Northern Fleet in Severomorsk .

As part of the Russian military action in Syria Sokolow launched from December 2016 to January 2017 a naval force of the Northern Fleet led by the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov .
