Bishop Wiktor Wysoczański

Wiktor Wysoczański (born March 24, 1939 in Wysocko Wyżne , today Ukraine) is the leading bishop of the Polish Catholic Church .

After his ordination on February 2, 1963, Wysoczański received the episcopal ordination on June 5, 1983 in Warsaw by the Archbishop of Utrecht Marinus Kok , after he was nominated as bishop on May 15, 1975 in Wroclaw.

Bishop Wysoczański was a member of the Christian Peace Conference and participant of the 5th All-Christian Peace Assembly (ACFV) 1978 and the VI. ACFV 1985 in Prague .

Wysoczański was elected in 1995 to succeed Tadeusz Majewski as the leading bishop of the Polish Catholic Church. The Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw has been headed by Wysoczański as rector since 2002 .

In 1999 he received an honorary doctorate from the Christian Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Bern . He is co-editor of the International Church Journal in Bern ( International Church Journal ).
