Wilantis

Wilantis was a private radio broadcaster based in the Stuttgart district of Vaihingen , which existed from 2004 to 2008. The name, which is formed from the syllables Wi of knowledge and lantis of Atlantis , was usually called with the addition of "the knowledge radio". The 24-hour program consisted of news from science and technology every 15 minutes, news, business and service every half hour and a mix of music that was more geared towards relaxed listening.

The station was founded on the initiative of the two entrepreneurs Reinhold Barlian ( Bartec ) and Manfred Wittenstein ( Wittenstein AG ). The operator was Radio Wilantis LBW Rundfunkbetriebs GmbH & Co. KG . It started broadcasting on December 6, 2004 as Germany's first knowledge radio station. Wolfgang Vosseler was the managing director, who was replaced by Harald Grüsser in 2007.

Wilantis broadcast in Stuttgart on the VHF frequency 88.6 MHz. In addition, Wilantis fm could be received via DAB in all metropolitan areas of Baden-Württemberg, in Frankfurt am Main, Halle and Magdeburg, via DVB-T in the Berlin-Brandenburg region, encrypted via satellite throughout Europe and worldwide via the Internet. Since April 1, 2007, Wilantis fm has been available worldwide on mobile devices (cell phones) with the Symbian OS operating system using the spodtronic software via UMTS / GPRS or W-LAN .

On April 17, 2008, Wilantis fm ceased operations for economic reasons.
