Wild White in Arnstadt-Schönbrunn

The Wilde Weisse is a small river in the Ilm district . It is about 12 km long and flows through the Jonastal , where it also has its sources. It flows into the Gera on the left at Arnstadt .

The Tame White (also called "Kelle") was a stream or open ditch that was fed by the Wild White and served to supply the city of Arnstadt with drinking water. It flowed along Schönbrunnstrasse to Hohen Bleiche, under the street to the “Brunnenkunst”. Here the water was lifted with a bucket wheel into the elevated tank that supplied the city's wells. A widely ramified system of ditches, which also served to supply industry, drained over the Wilde Weisse into the Gera.
