Wildt's house
The Wildt'sche Haus is a patrician house in Basel .
The house was built from 1762 to 1764 by the architect and engineer Johann Jacob Fechter at Petersplatz 13 on behalf of the silk ribbon manufacturer Jeremias Wildt-Socin (1705–1790), who had his residential and commercial building in front of the property (in Hebelstrasse).
The city palace was intended for Wildt's daughter Margaretha. She moved in with her husband, the silk ribbon manufacturer, artist and art collector Daniel Burckhard-Wildt in 1778.
It is equipped with mirrors, fireplace surrounds and console tables by the Bernese sculptor Johann Friedrich Funk . Tower stoves from the faience manufacturer Frisching in Bern are in the salon and dining room .
The Wildt'sche Haus was transferred to a foundation in 1951 and is used for events by the Basel Government Council, the University of Basel and by private parties.
