Wilhelm grandfather
Wilhelm Altvater (born August 12, 1920 in Todtenhausen ; † February 4, 2001 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).
Life and work
Altvater learned the trade of shipbuilder, was then drafted into the Wehrmacht and took part in the Second World War as a soldier from 1940 to 1945 . From 1945 he worked at the waterway machinery office in Minden . In 1948 he became chairman of the works council.
politics
Altvater had been a member of the SPD since 1946. He belonged to the German Bundestag from September 22, 1960, when he moved up for the deceased deputy Hugo Rasch via the state list of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia , until 1961.
