Wilhelm Bruhns

Franz Siegfried Willy Bruhns (born February 5, 1864 in Leipzig , † June 18, 1929 in Clausthal ) was a German mineralogist .

From 1882 Bruhns studied in Leipzig with Ferdinand Zirkel , and in 1886 was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD and then worked as an assistant at the physical-chemical institute in Leipzig. In 1887/88 he worked in Munich for Otto von der Pfordten (1861–1918).

From 1889 he was an assistant at the mineralogical institute of the University of Bonn and in 1892 he became a private lecturer there. In 1894 he moved to the Mineralogical and Petrographic Institute of the University of Strasbourg as a private lecturer , where he became a full professor in 1900. From 1909 he was a professor at the Clausthal Mining Academy , whose first rector he was from 1919 to 1921.
