Wilhelm Crichton

Wilhelm Crichton (* 1732 in Königsberg (Prussia) ; † April 28, 1805 there ) was a German Protestant theologian and court preacher.

Life

His ancestors came from England, the father was a merchant in Königsberg. He studied theology in Frankfurt an der Oder . During the Seven Years' War he accepted the post of rector at the reformed grammar school in Halle (Saale) . In 1766 Crichton became professor of biblical philology and eloquence in Frankfurt (Oder) and at the same time rector of the Friedrichs-Gymnasium there. In 1772 he took over the position of court preacher in Königsberg.
