Wilhelm Enz

Wilhelm Enz (born March 11, 1878 in Schwäbisch Gmünd , † September 29, 1966 in Wuppertal ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Wilhelm Enz was born the son of a master turner. After attending elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a turner from 1892 to 1895 and practiced this profession until an industrial accident in 1899. He then worked as a commercial clerk until 1903. From 1904 to 1908 he worked as an employee at the joint local health insurance fund in Cannstatt and from 1908 to 1919 as an employee (secretary) at the AOK Barmen . Furthermore, in 1914 he worked as an employee at the Centralstelle für Arbeiterjugend in Barmen. From 1919 to 1922 he was head of the district office of the Reichszentrale für Heimatdienst in Barmen. From 1923 he worked as an employee at the AOK Elberfeld (since 1929 Wuppertal), most recently as chief inspector.

Enz joined the SPD in 1908. From 1919 to 1929 he was a city ​​councilor in Barmen and from 1928 to 1932 a member of the Prussian state parliament . After the National Socialists came to power, he was released from the AOK in 1933, then imprisoned and later transferred to the Düsseldorf remand prison. From July 1945 to May 1946 he was initially acting director, from June 1946 to September 1952 he was finally director of the AOK Wuppertal. From 1945 to 1948 he was a member of the Wuppertal city council.
