Wilhelm Gottlieb Schneider

Wilhelm Gottlieb Schneider (born May 8, 1814 in Breslau ; † January 9, 1889 there ) was an entomologist , botanist and mycologist .

Live and act

He described nine new species of dragonflies ; Of these, five are still recognized today, namely: Cordulegaster insignis , Caliaeschna microstigma , Onychogomphus assimilis , Onychogomphus flexuosus and Orthetrum taeniolatum .

His botanical-mycological author's abbreviation is “ WGSchneid. ".

Dedication names

The dragonfly species Gomphus schneiderii was named in his honor .
