Wilhelm Hoffmann (politician, 1789)

Wilhelm Hoffmann (born August 31, 1789 in Darmstadt ; † July 29, 1863 there ) was a Hessian general staff auditor and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Wilhelm Hoffmann was the son of the Hesse-Darmstadt War Councilor Hans Wilhelm Hoffmann (1754-1813) and his wife Elisabeth Friederike Dorothea nee Stürtz (1753-1806). His brother Ernst Emil Hoffmann (1785–1847) was also a member of the state parliament. Hoffmann, who was a Protestant denomination, married Dorothea Caroline née Hallwachs on May 20, 1812 (* December 20, 1793 in Alsfeld: † March 27, 1874 in Darmstadt), the daughter of the court and government councilor Johann Karl Georg Hallwachs (1751–1797 ) and Maria Katharina Wagne (1763–1794). The following sons were born from the marriage:

  • Robert Hoffmann (1819–1889), member of the government in Alsfeld
  • August Hoffmann (1822–1892), Dr. med., doctor in Babenhausen
  • Franz Hoffmann (1836–1906), senior building officer in Dresden
  • Wilhelm Hoffmann (1836–1903), factory owner in Auerbach an der Bergstrasse

Wilhelm Hoffmann became auditor first class in 1822, chief auditor in 1845, and general auditor in 1849 with the rank of colonel and member of the Grand Ducal Hessian War Ministry . In 1859 he was retired.

From 1832 to 1833 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Starkenburg 7 / Heppenheim-Fürth .
