Wilhelm Münch

Wilhelm Karl Georg Münch (born April 11, 1843 in Schwalbach , † March 25, 1912 in Berlin ) was a German government councilor, educator and writer .

Life

After studying theology and philosophy at universities in Bonn and Berlin, Münch was a teacher at various grammar schools and higher schools from 1866. Among other things, he was also director of the high schools in Ruhrort and Barmen. In 1888 he was appointed provincial school councilor in Koblenz .

In 1897 he was assigned the title of Privy Government Councilor as a lecturing councilor to Berlin, where he also received the honorary professorship for education at the University of Berlin .

Through his work as a writer, he has had a lasting influence on the reorganization of teaching at the higher schools in Prussia. His most important works include future education and the spirit of the teaching profession , in which he describes education as a mutual interaction of give and take between pupil and teacher and places particular emphasis on the ethical qualities of the teacher.

Wilhelm Karl Georg Münch died in Berlin in 1912 at the age of 68 and was buried in the Luisenstadt cemetery . The tomb has not been preserved.
