Wilhelm Löffler (fencer)

Wilhelm Löffler (born February 7, 1886 , † after 1928) was a German fencer and two-time participant in the Olympic Games. He first fought at the Darmstadt Fencing Club , later for the FTV 1860 Frankfurt.

In 1909 Löffler took part in an international tournament in Offenbach and came third with the foil in the junior competition. At an international tournament in Wiesbaden in the same year he was ninth, this time in the open age group. In 1913 he won a tournament of the TV Offenbach in both foil and saber . At the German Championships in 1913 he was runner-up with the foil.

After the First World War , Löffler was second in foil and third in saber at a tournament in Munich in 1920, and in 1926 he took second place at the German Fighting Games in Cologne. He then changed the club to FTV 1860 Frankfurt am Main and was third again in the 1927 German championships .

Löffler competed twice in the Olympic Games. In Stockholm he took part in the Olympic Games in 1912 in foil singles and was third in the preliminary round with two defeats. He then retired in the second round. At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 , he was still a member of the foil team at the age of forty, which, however, was eliminated in the first round.
