Wilhelm Mewes (actor)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wilhelm Mewes , as a stage actor in the early days also Wilhelm Meves (born January 8, 1886 in Braunschweig , † after 1956) was a German actor in the stage and film.

Live and act

Meves / Mewes received his acting training at the age of around 20 and immediately began his career at the Ducal Court Theater in his home town of Braunschweig. After that, Mewes only rarely received permanent engagements. In the Third Reich he received several offers for small roles in film, which, however, hardly left an impression. Shortly after the end of the Second World War, an obligation as senior director brought him to Weißenfels. Apparently Mewes stayed in the east, as his participation in two DEFA productions of the 1950s is assured.
