Wilhelm Reichermann
Wilhelm Reichermann (born February 6, 1845 in Creuzburg i. Ostpr. , † February 26, 1920 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was an East Prussian dialect poet.
Life
Reichermann learned to dye from his father . As a wanderer he traveled through Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In 1880 he bought the town mill in Creuzburg. He was head of the city council for twenty years . His dialect poems made him known far beyond East Prussia . Humorous and coarse portraying Low German "Spoaßkes" natangische conditions. The first of these eight volumes appeared in 1891 by Graefe and Unzer . Numerous editions followed. After 1945 a selection appeared under the title “Strong Toback”.
In 1925 Reichermann was placed a memorial stone in Creuzburg .
