Wilhelm "Willy" Sandner (born March 8, 1911 in Munich ; † June 1984 there ) was a German speed skater . Between 1933 and 1938 he was German champions six times in a row in the all-around competition.

Sandner only got into speed skating by chance. When the trained locksmith became unemployed in the late 1920s, he took part in a race on the natural ice rink on Lake Kleinhesseloher . His good result was the reason for joining the Munich Ice Skating Club .

When he took part in a German championship for the first time, he was fourth, starting out of competition as a youth. After three runner-up championships, Sandner rose to become the best German speed skater and won six all-around titles in a row. Between 1934 and 1936 he set twelve new German records on the distances between 500 meters and 10,000 meters, as well as in the great four-way battle .

Internationally, however, Sandner always had to admit defeat to the competition. He took part in world championships three times (1935, 1936 and 1938). He achieved his best placement in Davos in 1936 with a 10th place in the Grand Four Fighting.

Sandner competed in three races at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . He was 19th over 500 meters, 16th over 1,500 meters and 12th on the 10,000-meter course. In 1940, Sandner took part in a German championship for the last time.
