Wilhelm Schmidt (born March 8, 1883 in Bristow near Schorssow ; † October 15, 1975 in Bremen ) was a German baker, member of the Bremen Parliament ( SPD ) and head of the government chancellery of the Senate.

Life

education and profession

Schmidt attended elementary school and learned the trade of a baker, which he practiced until 1908. From 1908 to 1933 he was an employee of the Bremen authorities, first as a messenger for the building inspection, then from 1923 as an administrative officer and from 1927 as a municipal welfare officer. His daughter was Annemarie Mevissen .

After the Second World War he was head of the government chancellery of the Senate in Bremen from 1945 to 1949/50. His successor in this office was Johann Osterloh .

politics

Schmidt became a member of the SPD in 1903 and was a temporary member of the USPD from 1917 to 1922 . He was a member of the union.

After the First World War, in 1919/1920 he was a member of the constituent Bremen National Assembly and from 1920 to 1933 a member of the Bremen citizenship .

During the Nazi era he was temporarily imprisoned in "protective custody" in 1933/34 and in 1944 in the Farge labor education camp .
