Wilhelm Schmitz-Steinkrüger

Wilhelm Schmitz-Steinkrüger (born March 29, 1909 in Leichlingen , † 1994 in Cologne ) was a German artist who mainly expressed himself in glass paintings and mosaics .

education

Schmitz-Steinkrüger studied with Jan Thorn Prikker at the Cologne factory schools .

family

During his studies he met his future wife and mother of his three children Milli Schmitz-Steinkrüger (née Beckers) at the Cologne factory schools . Together they founded a joint studio in Cologne.

Artistic career

Schmitz-Steinkrüger found his main focus of artistic work in glass painting and creating mosaics early on. During the time of National Socialism , his works were considered degenerate art .
