Wilhelm Schwach

Wilhelm Schwach (* 1850 ; † 1921 ) was a Romanian-German composer , music teacher and choir director .

Life

Schwach was second Kapellmeister at the Franz-Josef-Theater in Timisoara until 1877 . From 1877 to 1892 he headed the choral and music association and the Lugosch symphony orchestra . From 1894 he was the musical director of the Lugoscher Gewerbegesangsverein. At times he also directed the Lugoscher Romanian Choral Society, with which he performed Ciprian Porumbescu's operetta Crai Nou . In 1914 he was honored as an honorary chorister of the Lugoscher Gewerbegesangverein. Schwachs best-known work was an Ave Maria for two voices, violin and organ (1909). He also composed a. a. a festival mass , which was edited several times by his son Emmerich Schwach , and our father for bass, choir and organ. The waltz for piano Edelweiss was published in Budapest.
