Wilhelm Siegfried

Wilhelm Siegfried (born November 21, 1876 in Guben ; † unknown (after 1937)) was a German politician (economic party).

Live and act

After attending the community school in Guben and the preparatory institute there, Siegfried was trained at the teachers' college in Kyritz . He then taught as a private teacher in Berlin and as a regular teacher in various places in the province of Brandenburg . In 1912 Siegfried became the owner of his own movie theater (cinema) in Berlin .

From 1916 to 1918 Siegfried took part in the First World War with the Reserve Field Artillery Regiment 246 .

In 1920 Siegfried became a board member of the Association of Movie Theater Owners in Berlin and the Province of Brandenburg. In 1926 he became 2nd chairman of the Reich Association of Film Theaters in Germany

During the Weimar Republic , Siegfried became a member of the Reich Party of the German Middle Classes (Economic Party ). In February 1927 he became a city councilor for Greater Berlin before joining the Reichstag in Berlin from May 1928 to September 1930 on his party's proposal for a Reich election . In parliament, Siegfried was considered the spokesman for the film industry. In addition, he attracted attention through anti-Semitic statements, for example through his declaration after the stock market crash of 1929: "Jews and fellow Jews are to blame for everything".
