Wilhelm Staab (born December 28, 1863 in Büdingen , † October 5, 1933 in Potsdam ) was a German politician (SPD, USPD).

Wilhelm Staab was born as the fifth illegitimate child and fourth son of Luise Wolf. The father was Johannes Staab. He attended elementary school in Büdingen from 1869 to 1877 . He then learned the shoemaking trade in Frankfurt am Main . In the following years Staab initially worked as a shoemaker for a few years in various cities in Germany, and later opened a cigar shop. Staab joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) around 1885 . During the First World War he switched to the USPD .

In 1918 Staab became a workers 'council and a member of the provincial workers' council . In 1919 he became a member of the city council and unpaid city ​​council in Potsdam .

In the general election in June 1920 , he was a candidate of his party for the constituency 4 (Potsdam I) in the Reichstag elected. During this first legislative period of the Weimar Republic, Staab returned to the SPD. In the Reichstag election of May 1924 , he was not re-elected. In return he was able to return to parliament in the December 1924 election, which he subsequently belonged to until September 1930.

Today Wilhelm-Staab-Strasse in Potsdam is a reminder of Staab's life and political activities.
