Adolf Wilhelm Wimpff (born April 14, 1839 in Stuttgart ; † June 17, 1903 in Stuttgart) founded a wagon construction factory (Chaisen-Bauer, horse-drawn carriages, Wilhelm Wimpff & Sons ) in Stuttgart's Bohnenviertel in 1866 .

On March 8, 1886 , Gottlieb Daimler ordered an “Americain” carriage from Wilhelm Wimpff & Sons , which was delivered in August 1886. Originally intended as a present for his wife Emma, ​​it ended up being the first four-wheeled automobile after Daimler installed an engine there.

Wilhelm Wimpff's customers also included Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH and industrialist Robert Bosch .

In 1905, the Neuffer brothers window factory acquired the buildings of the Wimpff wagon factory and the neighboring Diffenbacher customer sawmill at Rosenstrasse 26–28 in Stuttgart's Bohnenviertel.
