Wilhelm Ziehr

Wilhelm Ziehr (born November 21, 1938 in Berlin ) is a German lexicographer, non-fiction author and cultural historian.

Life

Ziehr grew up in Thuringia from 1944 . In 1957 he graduated from high school in Eisenberg . There he was a co-founder of the Eisenberger Kreis . In 1958 he began studying history, German, Romance studies and art history in Tübingen and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris in 1962/63. In 1969 he was in Tübingen at Gerhard Schulz to Dr. phil. PhD.

In 1968/69 he was editor of the 17th edition of the Brockhaus Enzyklopädie , Wiesbaden, and from 1970 to 1975 editor in chief of the book series “Weltreise” in Lucerne. He then worked for a school book publisher and as a freelance author and editor. In 1987 he co-founded the publishing house Schweizer Lexikon, Mengis und Ziehr, Lucerne . From 1996 to June 2005 he lived in Menorca . He has lived in Wilhelmshorst since 2005 .
